Weight: 245 pounds
Birthdate: August 11, 1971
Hometown: Little Italy, New York City
Favorite Arena: Madison Square Garden
Setup Move: Called the "Corner Pocket" Vic slingshots his opponent into the turnbuckles. He does this because it is as high impact move that buys him the time necessary to aplly his finisher
Finishing Move: A painful submission hold that is, for all intents and purposes, the Texas Cloverleaf. Vic, however, prefers to call it The Shakedown.
Manager: James "The Don" Garibaldi
Profile: James Garibaldi aka The Don has had a long career in the wrestling business, working the preliminary ranks before going behind the scenes as a booker and announcer. He has recently returned to manage his nephew, and his no nonsense style will likely provide the direction that Vic's career could use after the time spent with "that woman".
Wrestler History: Vic Garibaldi was born in Sicily, where his parents were murdered by a crime family. After running away from an orphanage at the age of ten, he stole all he could before jumping a boat to the United States. He then lived in the Little Italy district of New York City, where he was raised by his uncle James. Vic formed close bonds with his cousin Cynthia and a schoolmate of his, Oswald Bates. After school, he would head to a gym of Lafayette Street where he began to learn the basics of wrestling and basic boxing. He and Bates worked out religiously, but Vic's buried past returned to the surface as he began his professional wrestling career. Taking on James as his manager, Vic quickly rose through the ranks despite a debilitating drinking problem. In spite of his alcoholism, Vic captured the ACW world title twice. Vic has also held gold in the EWF, SCW Mid-Atlantic, the AWA, and the UWA. In addition, he has also aided in training such wrestlers as Trent Malady, George Muldoon, Gino Valentini and Oswald Bates. The day that changed his life was the night that, in an alcoholic rage, he hit his then-girlfriend and broke her jaw. (Vic imagines she would rather remain anonymous.) He had hit bottom, and needed all his friends' and family's support to clean himself up and raise to the heights of superstardom. Now, as one of the top superstars of the AICW, Vic seeks to carry on the honorable name of Garibaldi for his uncle and his parents.
Important Facts: Vic is cynical about many things, but FIRMly believes that there is the right woman for him in this world.
Wrestler Profile: Vic has never been the biggest dog in the fight. At 6'2", 245, he has even qualified for cruiserweight status in some federations. He typically dresses in sharp suits, complete with fedoras. He prefers the Armani label, and sometimes wears boots rather than hard shoes. When not riding around in limousines, Vic favors his beat up Cadillac, a relic that once belonged to a rival of his. Vic, although with a dark side, likes to have a good time. He has a bizarre sense of humor, and a strange sense on honor. Loyalty is above all else to him.
Theme Song: "Macabre Tavern" by The Church
What would you do if you met OJ Simpson in a dark alley? | You know, violence against women, in any form, is unforgivable, and taking the life of one you married is lower than the lowest. I'd rather not think about what I'd do. |
Who/what has been your biggest influence? | Guys like Killer Kowalski and Lou Thesz are the guys who built my sport, but through everything, Jimmy's been there getting me through. |
What is the worst thing that happened to you in your youth? | Well, a lot of s--t has happened, but losing my parents like that takes it all, no question. No kid should watch his parents die right in front of him. |
What is the worst pain you ever felt in your life? (physical/emotional) | Even that business with my parents... I couldn't, can't... live down the one time I hit Her. That day, I didn't deserve to be alive. I... I'll never get over that... what that did. I still think about Her every day. |
If you could meet one person, at any point in history, who would it be? What would you say to them? | An ancestor of mine, an Italian general, Giuseppe Garibaldi. I really don't know, I expect I'd apologize for bringing darkness to the family name. |
Boxers or briefs? | Boxers. Are you kidding me? |
What is the greatest thing you've ever achieved? | It's corny, I know, but winning the King of The Hill Battle Royal for the AICW International Title. This has been the first federation I'd ever been in where *everyone* had something to offer, and when I beat nineteen other guys, I knew I had some business getting in that ring. |
What are your favorite and least favorite foods? | I'll eat anything, just put pesto sauce on it. I've also developed a taste for Altoids to take care of pesto breath. Least favorite? Well, I never cared much for raisins, but I think Scotch, if that counts as a food. I used to love it. But... it's just no good. |
Favorite musicians/songs? | The Church. They're an obscure Australian band that had a hit about ten years ago, but they've been putting out quality tunes for twenty. I also like songs about heartbroken guys, with honest lyrics. Lou Barlow, Bob Mould, Paul Westerberg. And I've got a soft spot for Puccini, but don't tell the other wrestlers that!! |
Favorite movie? | GoodFellas, Donnie Brasco, and Mr. Saturday Night. Billy Crystal is a genius. |
If you had one wish, what would it be? | Next question. |
Where do you see yourself in 10/20/50 years? | Well, I really take care of myself, so I could be wrestling twenty years from now, certainly ten. If not I'm sure I'll be mangaging, training, working backstage... 50 years? I don't know where I'll be, but I'll be done with wrestling by then. I just hope my kids will look after me. |
If you went to McDonalds and found a rat in your burger, what would you do? | Get my money back and go somewhere else. What am I, a savage? |
What would you do if someone broke into your home? | It wouldn't happen. |
If you weren't wrestling in the AICW, what would you be doing? | Can't say for sure. Maybe prison, maybe dead, amybe wrestling somewhere else... |
Worst job you ever had? | Towel boy at the gym. Made no money. But I learned a lot. |
Assuming there is a God, what will you say to him when you die? | Was it as good for you as it was for me? |
What do you always keep in your fridge? | Club soda. And lots of limes. |
What do you look for in a mate? | I need a girl who can handle the road life, the tortured past, the bright future. A girl who can talk and who can listen, and who can talk me out of a tree so that I can help her down from hers. And it's shallow, I know, but she's gotta be a brunette. (Laughs) |
If you could freeze all time and motion, what three things would you do? | I'd get a little sleep, for one thing. I'd probably fix up my Caddy while I had the time. I'd find Her, and make sure that She's okay. |
